NearSt takes a top spot among startups powering retail’s ‘new normal’

NearSt have been named as one of the global top 50 tech startups that power the new world of retail, and as a Judges’ Top Pick in Retail Week and World Retail Congress’ Discovery 50 report.

”Once the UK lockdown is lifted, high street retailers are going to need to work hard to reach consumers and this solution offers a helping hand”

What the judges said:

NearSt is making it as easy to shop locally as it is online and enabling smaller retailers, lacking the scope and budgets of larger brands, to compete. Once the UK lockdown is lifted, high street retailers are going to need to work hard to reach consumers and this solution offers a helping hand.

The expert panel included retail consultant Ian Shepherd, retail analyst Natalie Berg, former Morrisons CTO Anna Barsby, Co:Cubed chief executive Jeremy Basset, Retail Week head of insight Lisa Byfield-Green and more.

The value to shops is simple

With NearSt, shops show their available in-store stock directly in Google to local shoppers. When nearby customers searches for the shop or a product they can immediately find out if the product is in stock and how to get it.

As COVID-19 further transforms an industry already undergoing seismic changes, NearSt helps retailers to innovate and adapt their businesses faster than ever to succeed in the ‘new normal’ of social distancing we all shop and live in.

Since early March we’ve seen demand on our platform for local product availability information jump more than 600% as shoppers seek certainty before venturing out to their local stores.

Helping shops sell more locally during lockdown

Shops working with NearSt have already adapted to this ‘new normal’ in myriad different ways, even when their doors have been closed.

Coulsdon Home Hardware has used their Google store-front to operate a local delivery service. Potters of Hockley cookshop have closed their doors but are offering car park collection. Hanover Healthfoods are doing same-day delivery for customers in Edinburgh.

However retailers are continuing to serve their local customers, they’re all using live product availability in Google to achieve this.

We’re proud to see the Discovery 50 judges at Retail Week and World Retail Congress recognise the crucial role NearSt’s technology is playing in helping retailers succeed, now and in the ‘new normal’ that lies ahead.

It’s surprisingly easy with NearSt to get your stock into Google. Drop us a line on hello@near.st, call 020 3870 3617 or visit near.st.
