Dorset bookshop uses NearSt technology to serve their customers during lockdown
The challenge:
Lockdown restrictions meant that Gullivers Bookshop sadly had to close their doors to walk-in customers. Without a transactional website, the shop was suddenly faced with the challenge of serving their customers and while being closed for browsing.
“We’ve been faced with an entirely new way of doing business, we are very much used to hand selling and dealing with customers face to face so having to close the shop was pretty heartbreaking.”
Jane Roberts, Gulliver’s Bookshop
The Solution
NearSt connected to the shop’s Gardlink point-of-sale system, taking an automatic feed of the products they stock and showing them in Google. Now, when local shoppers search for Gulliver’s Bookshop, they can virtually browse their shelves directly from their Google See What’s in Store. Customers can also contact them with orders through the free ‘reserve now’ button feature in their NearSt shop page.
The Results
“NearSt has been brilliant! We wouldn’t have done nearly as much business without it as we have never got around to setting up a transactional website, I am sure that we have gained new customers”
Jane Roberts, Gulliver’s Bookshop
By using NearSt technology, Gulliver’s customers can now browse their products from home, without any additional effort from the shop. The shop is currently receiving daily enquiries about their products to fulfil free local delivery and postal orders.
