How a local DIY shop keeps sales consistent throughout lockdown
Over a four week period, we ran Google Local Inventory Ads for Mortens in West Yorkshire, actively promoting their products to local shoppers searching nearby, see the results below!
Results
Customers coming into the shop had reported finding their products in Google and coming in to make a purchase. From their results of 19,482 views of their products in searches and 277 engaged with the shop and products to find out more, we estimated around 36 new customers visiting the shop.
It’s also worth noting that in the month of July, the majority of the town was poorly affected by newly imposed parking charges, but Morten’s sales were unaffected. Steven believes that using NearSt must have kept his sales consistent.
What the team had to say
We had six or seven instances where customers actually came into the shop saying they searched for our products online and we came up in Google — each of these led to a sale! I’m sure there were many more instances where local people came to the shop after finding us on Google…I would recommend NearSt to other retailers as a way to increase footfall.
– Steven Senior, Owner
Morten’s now use NearSt as a tool to show customers exactly what they have in stock. When people call the shop, the team now directs them to their ‘See What’s in Store’ feature in their Google My Business from where they can search through their live in-stock inventory.
