NearSt currently displays your in-store inventory in two places across Google: See What’s In Store in your Google My Business listing, and as Local Inventory Ads in Google Search. A reminder of what they look like here.
In a bid to drive more traffic to retailers online, Google is going to be launching a program offering free local product listings in even more places on Google. If you’re a shop using NearSt, this means that soon your products will start appearing in results such as Google Images, Google Shopping and Google Maps- entirely for free.
These ads haven’t yet launched in the UK, but here’s our breakdown of what these product listings might look like:
Google Shopping
Your products will appear in free local listings in the Google Shopping tab (Local Inventory Ads still appear in ad slots). Your listing will let shoppers know they can get the item they’re searching for nearby at your shop. By clicking on your product they will find information about the product, along with opening hours, directions, your shop’s phone number.
Google Maps
When nearby shoppers search in Google for an item you stock, your shop will appear as a Google Maps result, letting them know it’s in stock at your shop. Information such as your shop rating, address, opening hours, phone number and the shopper’s distance to your shop will also be available.
Google Images
If a shopper turns to Google Images for inspiration relating to a product you stock in-store, your product will appear with a ‘product’ badge, letting consumers know your item is available to purchase. They can click onto your product to find further information such as price, availability and brand and get directions to your shop.
Sounds great! Do I need to do anything
